Attorney David Venie of Albuquerque; repeat offender

The state of California provided David Chipman Venie with a law license in 1999 after he graduated from the University of Virginia Law School.

The California State Bar Court found Dave guilty of the following misconduct.

Dave’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

Dave mailed at least 23 solicitation letters to count jail inmates over a two-year period of time, advertising his ability for hire. Dave’s letters were summarily tossed by the sheriff’s department upon arrival at the jail.

Dave then had the chutzpah to threaten to sue the Sheriff for tossing his letters. Subsequently, Dave was advised by an attorney for the Sheriff’s Department that there policy was to toss all such advertisements so that important inmate mail wouldn’t be slowed down.

Dave disregarded the attorney’s letter and continued to send more solicitation letters to jail inmates. The attorney for the Sheriff’s Department then sent a letter to Dave accusing him of falsely labeling his letters as “legal mail” when in fact they were advertisements.

Dave was a total embarrassment to all well-intentioned and ethical ambulance chasers operating in the

Los Angeles area.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the

California State Bar Court punished Dave by gifting his with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

A federal court in

New Mexico suspended Dave for six months for violating the court’s order by asking questions during the examination of a witness regarding mandatory minimum penalties and sentencing and by making speaking objections three times in the presence of the jury.

As we speak (ca. April 2014), Dave practices with the Law Office of Chip Venie at

833 Lomas Blvd Northwest in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
