Attorney Michael Livingstone of New Bedford, MA; lying loser

The state of Massachusetts presented Michael J. Livingstone with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Boston University Law School.

The Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct found Mike guilty of the following misconduct while he was sitting as a Plymouth County probate and family court judge.

Then acting governor Jane Swift was duped into appointing Mike to the bench in December 2002. Mike wasn’t appointed because he was the most qualified attorney in the Plymouth area. He received the appointment because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

While sitting as a judge Mike improperly collected attorney fees and illegally operated a real estate business for over four years.

Mike’s lie that he wasn’t involved in a real estate business was proven false when he sent a threatening letter to a Section 8 tenant, collected and deposited rent checks, secretly collected fees from former law clients through an arrangement with another lawyer.

Mike executed numerous leases with the New Bedford Housing Authority, collected Section 8 rents, and threatened a tenant with eviction if she did not pay her rent. In his letter to the tenant, Mike wrote that he would "not pay your utility bills and will have you evicted from your unit for failure to pay your rent as required," if the tenant did not send checks directly to he would have her evicted if she didn’t send her rents checks directly to him.

Had Mike made good on his threat to the tenant, it would have constituted a crime and formed the basis for a civil lawsuit by the tenant.

As proof positive that Mike’s denial was pure BS is the fact that he claimed business expenses on his tax returns for operating his law practice.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Massachusetts Supreme Court punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2014), Mike practices at 261 Union Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Warning: Mike doesn’t carry legal malpractice insurance
