Attorney Derwin Hayashi of Wahiawa, HI; ethical leprechaun

The state of Hawaii presented Roy M. Yoshino with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of Hawaii Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Derwin guilty of the following misconduct.

1. Commingled client funds with personal funds
2. Failed to communicate with client
3. Failed to provide accurate accounting of fee claims to client
4. Failed to advise client of basis for fees
5. Failed to maintain required client trust account
6. Failed to safeguard client property
7. Filed false statements re: his receipt of client funds
8. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on Disciplinary Counsel punished Derwin by gifting him with a complimentary 14-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2014), Derwin practices in the Wahiawa, Hawaii area.
