Attorney Michael Swafford of Clayton, MO; ethical leprechaun

The state of Illinois presented Michael R. Swafford with a law license in 1994. The State of Missouri provided Mike with a law license in 1979. He also obtained a law license from Iowa in 1977.

The Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission found Mike guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, the Missouri Supreme Court reprimanded Mike for misconduct in his so-called representation of a client in a medical malpractice claim.

A potential defendant was Mike’s cousin, an emergency room physician who treated the client on the day at issue. Mike the Loser never disclosed this relationship to the client, and a suit that he eventually filed on behalf of his client failed to name the cousin as a defendant.

Subsequently, Mike dismissed the lawsuit without ever advising his client that he did so.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2014) Mike practices at 100 South Brentwood Blvd in Clayton, Missouri.
