Attorney Merritt James of Lincoln, NE; repeat offender

The state of Nebraska presented Merritt E. James with a law license in 1964 after he graduated from the University of Nebraska Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel found Merritt guilty of the following misconduct

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to act with due diligence
  • Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
  • Failed to preserve identity of client funds
  • Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Jim’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received two (2) complimentary reprimands for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Nebraska Supreme Court punished Merritt by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2014), Merritt practices at 1710 St. James Road in Lincoln, Nebraska.
