Attorney Scott King of Atlanta; ethical leprechaun

The state of Georgia presented Scott Richard King with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the University of Georgia Law School.

The Georgia State Bar found Scott guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Scotty represented a client in a civil action wherein he had been sued on a bond. Scotty filed an answer and third-party complaint and communicated with the client regarding discovery.

Subsequently, the defendant filed a motion to dismiss the client’s case. Scotty failed to respond to the motion and the trial court entered judgment against Scotty’s client in the amount of $25,382.40.

Shortly, thereafter, Scotty withdrew from representing the client, but did not notify the client and did not seek permission from the court to withdraw. Making matters worse, Scotty did not notify the client of the $25,382.40judgment.

After the client learned of the judgment against him, his brother, who is an attorney, contacted King to obtain the case file; however, it took Scotty five (5) months to return it.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Scotty’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court punished Scott by gifting him with a  second complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2014), Scott practices with Jacobs & King LLC at 1117 Perimeter Center West in Atlanta, Georgia.
