Attorney Beryl Farris of Atlanta; ethical misfit
The state of Georgia presented Beryl B. Farris with a law license in 1977 after she graduated from Emory University Law School.
The Georgia State Bar found Beryl guilty of the following misconduct.
- Failed to act with due diligence
- Failed to keep client informed as to status of case
- Failed to communicate with client
- Failed to appear at mandatory immigration hearing on client’s behalf
- Failed to ensure client understood and agreed to scope of work Beryl planned to perform
- Failed to clarify the limits on the scope of her representation to client
- Failed to explain ramifications of expiration of client’s visa on ability to remain in US
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court punished Beryl by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. February 2014), Beryl practices with Beryl Farris LLC Immigration Law in Atlanta, Georgia.
