Judge Raymond Davilla Jr. of San Jose; moronic loser  The state of California presented Raymond Davilla Jr. with a law license in 1972 after he graduated from Santa Clara University Law School.
In 1995, former Gov. Pete Wilson was duped into appointing Raymond to a judgeship on the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
Ray didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the Santa Clara/San Jose area. He received the appointment because he had proven that he could be relied upon to act as a compliant lackey for the local political hacks.
Judge Davilla was assigned to preside over a criminal case involving Roman Vara, who was charged with assault.
At Mr. Vara’s original criminal trial before Judge Robert Ahern, Judge Ahern prohibited Vera’s attorney from challenging a witness’s credibility by asking the witness about his troubles. Those troubles included the fact that at the time the witness was in jail on unrelated criminal charges.
Subsequently, the Court of Appeals reversed Vara’s conviction based on the laughable conduct of Judge Ahern.
The case and second trial was then assigned to Judge Davilla. Unbelievably, Davilla blocked Varas’ attorney from getting any information about the witness’s juvenile record as they prepared for a second trial.
As expected, the Court of Appeals reversed Judge Davilla’s idiotic repeat of the moronic behavior of Judge Ahern.
After the second reversal by the Court of Appeals, the prosecutors settled for a probationary sentence for Mr. Vara rather than go for a third trial.
As we speak (ca. December 2013), Judge Davilla continues to sit on the bench as a Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge in San Jose, California.
