Attorney John Kucej of Waterbury, CT; serial offender

 
The state of Connecticut provided John C. Kucej with a law license in 1967 after he graduated from Catholic University Law School.
 
The Statewide Grievance Committee found John guilty of the following misconduct.
 
Johnny’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 
In one matter, a husband and wife hired Johnny to represent both of them in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Shortly after the meeting of the creditors resulted in no objections, the wife was served with divorce papers by her husband that were prepared and filed by Johnny. . Despite representing both the wife and husband during the bankruptcy proceedings, Johnny engaged in a glaring conflict of interest when he then went about representing the wife in the divorce action.
 
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished John by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

In one matter, the owner of Rebound Physical Therapy provided physical therapy services to Johnny’s client, Leonard Burgison. Subsequently, Johnny signed a “Physical Therapy Lien” on behalf of Rebound Therapy wherein Johnny agreed to protect Rebound’s fees for treatment of his client.
 
Subsequently, Johnny settled Leonard’s claim for $27,500. He then issued a check to himself for fees of $6,250 and disbursed the balance to Leonard. However, Johnny did not protect the fees owed to Rebound and failed to verify the amount owed prior to disbursing the $21,250 to his client.
 
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished John by gifting him with a Second complimentary reprimand.
 
Johnny’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit and misrepresentation
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished John by gifting him with a Third complimentary reprimand.
 
As we speak (ca. November 2013) John practices at 95 North Main Street in Waterbury, Connecticut.
