Attorney Thomas Lockhart of Westminster, MD; ethical elf

The state of Maryland presented Thomas Jackson Lockhart with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the University of Maryland Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct.

Tommy found it acceptable to engage in an egregious conflict of interest by preparing a will for his client that left him with “whatever may be left” of the client’s estate.

Tommy made the changes in the will that including naming himself as personal representative and residuary beneficiary. Upon his client’s death, Tommy filed the Will with the Probate court and was appointed personal representative.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2013), Tommy practices with Lockhart & Associates at 304 East Green Street in Westminster, Maryland.
