Attorney Richard Palumbo of Suitland, MD; misogynist

The state of Maryland presented Richard A. Palumbo with a law license in 1971 after he graduated from the University of Baltimore Law School.

Richard’s misconduct took place while he was sitting as a Prince George County District Court Judge. The Maryland Judicial Commission found Richard guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Dick dismissed Yvette Cade’s request that a protective order be kept in place against her estranged husband Roger Hargrave. Three weeks later, Hargrave doused Yvette with gasoline, struck a match and set her on fire. A Prince George’s jury convicted Hargrave of attempted first-degree murder.

On numerous occasions, Dick went out of his way to prove that he was a die-in-the-wool misogynist when dealing with requests for protective orders from female litigants. Examples are as follows:

Told a victim of domestic violence if she didn’t show up for next hearing he would charge her $750
Told an indigent woman who asked for temporary peace order, “Next time, you’re going to pay for this”
In three cases, Leo compared women to buses by saying another one comes along every few minutes

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Richard by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2013), Richard practices at 4004 Saint Barnabas Road in Suitland, Maryland
