Attorney Gerald Kahn of New Haven, CT; repeat offender

The state of Connecticut provided Gerald H. Kahn with a law license in 1971

The Statewide Grievance Committee found Tamarah guilty of the following misconduct.

Gerald’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

In one matter, Gerald represented a client in a divorce case. At the time, the client and her two children had moved out of the marital home and moved into the basement of the client’s parent’s home. The client was pregnant with her third child and not working. Her financial situation was dire. Her husband, a physician, earned about $300,000 per year at that time.

After the husband refused to voluntarily pay child support and alimony, Gerald filed motions with the trial court so as to obtain an order that the husband pay said support.

After waiting seven (7) months for Gerald to appear at a hearing to obtain the support, the client had her fill and fired him. The new attorney was able to resolve the matter quickly and the client received the necessary child support and alimony.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Gerald by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

Gerald’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

In one matter, a client hired Gerald to represent her in regards to a real estate purchase. The client provided the seller’s attorney with a $10,000 deposit to hold in escrow. Subsequently, the property went into foreclosure and the seller refused to return the client’s $10,000 deposit.

Subsequently, Gerald was able to get the seller to release $5,000 from escrow to his client. Several months later, the client paid Gerald $200 to initiate a lawsuit against the seller for the return of the balance of the escrow. However, Gerald failed to file the lawsuit, which caused the client to file an ethics complaint against Gerald.

During the ethics investigation, Gerald agreed to file the lawsuit which he did. However, over the next four (4) years, Gerald did absolutely nothing in regards to prosecuting the lawsuit, which then led to the court dismissing.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Gerald by gifting him with another (2nd) complimentary reprimand.
