Attorney David Layson of Corydon, IN; ethical misfit

The state of Indiana provided David Allen Layson with a law license in 1972

The Indiana Disciplinary Commission found David guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of legal matter

In one matter, David’s clients purchased property and for twenty years t heir property tax payments were not  credited due to an error in the legal description on t he deed recorded at the time of the purchase.

After the twenty years passed, the clients received notice that the property had been sold at a tax sale. Shortly thereafter the client s advised David to correct the deed and quiet title to the property. Within a few months, the corrected survey and legal description were completed; however, David took no action for three (3) years, when he finally filed a complaint to reform the deed and quite title.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished David by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 60-day suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. September 20123) David practices at 102 North Capitol Avenue in Corydon, Indiana, which is about 25 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky.
