Attorney James Heidecker, Jr. of Allentown, PA; serial offender

The state of Pennsylvania presented James L. Heidecker, Jr. with a law license in 1974

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found James guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Falsely told his client that he had taken action in client’s case when in fact he didn’t
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished James by gifting him with a complimentary informal admonition.

James’ 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

In one matter, James represented a client in a criminal matter. Subsequently, his client was found guilty and instructed James that he wanted to appear the conviction.

James failed to file the necessary notice of appeal and costs of the appeal within the statutory time limits. As a consequence, his client lost his right to appeal.

Making matters worse, James lied to his client that he had in fact filed the appeal. In addition, James accepted a $2,500 retainer from the client’s brother to file the client’s appeal after the deadline for so acting had expired.

Even though he knew he wasn’t entitled to the $2,500 since he did not file the promised appeal, James refused to refund the $2,500 to the client’s brother.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished James by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. August 2013) James practices with the Karoly Law Firm LLC at 527 Hamilton Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
