Attorney David Peilet of Chicago; ethical leprechaun

The state of Illinois presented David Jay Peilet with a law license in 1988.

The Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission found David guilty of the following misconduct.

David was employed by serial killer Drew Peterson to assist in his post-trial appeal after the former Bolingbrook police sergeant was found guilty of drowning his third wife.

David was accused of personally pocketing almost $4,000 in client money from a 2010 drug case. In this matter, David represented Angel Montiel, who was charged with selling cocaine to an undercover Chicago police officer. Montiel’s girlfriend, Erika Reyes posted bond for Montiel. Subsequently, David kept $4,000 from the bail bond Erika had posted instead of returning it to her as he had previously agreed to do.

The client trust account into which David deposited the bond money had a mere $50 balance as of June 2011.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished David by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2013), David practices at 53 West Jackson Blvd in Chicago, Illinois.

Warning: David does not carry legal malpractice insurance
