The state of Ohio presented Darrell Wendell Holland, Jr. with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of Akron Law School.
Disciplinary Counsel found Morris guilty of the following misconduct
Over the course of two years, Darrell accepted appointments from the Stark County Juvenile Court in Canton to represent multiple juvenile clients at arraignments and other court proceedings.
The Juvenile Court was open for 3 ½ hours each day to conduct arraignments and another 3 ½ for other court proceedings. Therefore, the court was open for business 7 hours a day.
Darrell was required to submit separate requests for fee reimbursements for each juvenile he represented. However, Darrell decided to defraud the court by billing for hours he never worked. In fact, on some occasions he billed for more in-court hours than the court was open in a day.
Darrell inflated his fees by charging several juvenile clients for the same three hours on the same day.
This kind of gives a new meaning to the term “workaholic” if you know what I mean.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Darrell by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension of his law license.
In truth, the comedians sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Morris.
