Attorney Robert Gregory of Chandler, AZ; ethical leprechaun

The state of Arizona presented Robert M. Gregory with a law license in 2003 after he graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Robert guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  2. Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  3. Engaged in a conflict of interest
  4. Failed to safeguard client property
  5. Misconduct involved selfish or dishonest motives
In one matter, Robert was hired to represent a client in a personal injury case. Robert failed to comply with the court imposed deadline to disclose expert witnesses. Consequently, the trial court granted defense counsel’s motion to preclude expert testimony. Opposing counsel then offered to settle the claim. Robert told the client that he would waive his fee if she signed an agreement to not sue him for legal malpractice, which she agreed to do.

In another matter, Robert was hired to represent a client in an employment discrimination action. The client signed a contingency fee agreement, which stated that costs would be paid upon demand. Robert then filed a compliant in U.S. District Court and sent the client a statement of costs totaling $1,502.72.

Subsequently, the client wrote a check for $7,000 to pay for expert witnesses. The client approved using a portion of the check to cover outstanding costs bud did not specify the specific portion amount.

Robert then deposited the $7,000 check into his general operating account rather than his trust account as required. The client then wrote another check for $3,000 for the balance of expert witness fess. Robert again deposited the check into his general account rather than his trust account.

Robert later withdrew as counsel and the client requested fee arbitration through the State Bar, which resulted in Robert being ordered to refund $4,918.48 to his former client (victim).

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Robert by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2013) Robert practices with Gregory & Hadlock PC at 1820 East Ray Road in Chandler, Arizona.

Warning: Robert doesn’t carry legal malpractice insurance
