Attorney Kenneth Everett of Phoenix; ethical goblin

The state of Arizona presented Kenneth D. Everett with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from the University of Arizona Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Ken guilty of the following misconduct.

While working as a Deputy Maricopa Public Defender, Ken assisted his client in disobeying an order issued by a Superior Court Judge. Ken’s client had been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly defrauding an 87-year-old widow of real estate and other property by winning over he affections and then having her provide him with a power of attorney over property.

Prior to trial, the judge entered an ordering forbidding Ken’s client from contacting the widow. Ken was told by both his client and the widow that they were in love and desired to be married. Believing the marriage would result in the dismissal of the criminal charges against his client, Ken arranged the wedding, notwithstanding the court’s order forbidding Dan’s client from contacting the widow.

As a result of the wedding, the criminal charges were dropped; however, Ken and his client were found guilty of criminal contempt of court.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Ken by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. April 2013) Ken practices at 4365 East Sandia Street in Phoenix, Arizona.

Warning: Kenneth doesn’t carry legal malpractice insurance
