Attorney William Kopesky of Camden, ME; repeat offender

The state of California provided William Joseph Kopesky with a law license in 1083 after he graduated from Boston University Law School.

The State Bar Court found William guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, William was hired to file a criminal appeal, and although he did so, he failed to file an opening brief and the appeal was dismissed. He didn’t inform his client about the dismissal.

William twice failed to file an opening brief in another appeal, but after he filed a motion for reinstatement, the court vacated its dismissal orders. He requested and received three time extensions, but the appeal was not reinstated.

Williams’ conduct was similar in a third criminal appeal matter, but he received six time extensions to file an opening brief before the appeal was dismissed. He missed three court appearances in a criminal case in San Diego before the court found he had abandoned his client and relieved him as counsel.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished William by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

While handling a civil lawsuit for a client and her mother, William improperly withdrew from his representation of the clients. He also failed to perform services competently (moron) and violated several court orders.

William failed to appear for four hearings or pay a $2,500 court ordered sanction. He also filed to obtain a judgment after default was entered for his client, and after a certain date, he did not make any court appearances, communicate with his clients or file any pleadings on their behalf.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished William by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Bar Court didn’t punish William in any meaningful manner.

As we speak (ca. April 2013) William practices with the Law Offices of William J. Kopesky at 17 Knowlton Street in Camden, Maine.
