Attorney J. David Whyte of Sault Sainte Marie, MI; repeat offender

 

 

 

The state of Michigan provided J. David Whyte with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Detroit.

 

A disciplinary hearing panel found Whyte guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Whyte’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  2. Faield to provide competent representation (Dufus)
  3. Failed to communicate with clients
  4. Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him
  5. Failed to promptly notify client of receipt of funds
  6. Failed to withdraw representation after being fired
  7. Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client’s interests after being fired
  8. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  9. Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct by knowingly assisting or inducing another to do so, or doing so through the acts of another
  10. Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Whyte!)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfitssitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Whyte by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.

 

Whyte’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him
  2. Failed to seek the lawful objectives of his client
  3. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  4. Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct by knowingly assisting or inducing another to do so, or doing so through the acts of another

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Whyte by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand

 

As we speak (ca. July 2013) J. David practices with the Law Office of J. David Whyte at 121 Maple Street in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan.
