Attorney John Thacher of New Haven, CT; ethical dwarf
The state of Connecticut provided John Boyd Thacher with a law license in 1998.
The Statewide Grievance Committee found John guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter, John was appointed by the court to represent a client in regards to the State’s attempt to terminate the client’s parental rights regarding his minor daughter. At the time, the client was incarcerated in out-of-state prison and he allowed for his wife to act as his advocate in disussing matters with John.
Over the period of several months, the wife made numerous attempts to contact John by fax, letter and telephone with no response from John. Subsequently, the client received notice from the court of several scheduled court dates. In addition, at the same time, the mother of the client’s daughter passed away.
After receiving notice of the court dates, the client and his wife faxed and telephone John repeatedly in order to obtain some type of information regarding the matter; however, Johnny didn’t respond to any of these requests for information. Subsequently the court found it necessary to appoint another attorney to represent John’s client.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished John by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. March 2013) John continues to practice in the New Haven, Connecticut area.
