Attorney Juan Perez of Miami Beach; lying misfit

The state of Florida presented Juan Carlos Perez with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from Nova Southeastern University Law School.

The Florida Bar found Juan guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to provide competent legal representation (moron)
  2. Knowingly made a false statement of material fact
  3. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  4. Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of legal matter
  5. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  6. Failed to comply with client’s reasonable requests for information
  7. Failed to explain matter to extent necessary to permit client to make informed decisions re: representation
  8. Failed to take reasonable steps to expedite litigation consistent with interests of client
  9. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation
  10. Engaged in the unauthorized practice of law while license was suspended
  11. Intentionally disobeyed a court order
In one matter, Pablo Valerio hired Juan to represent him in a civil action against his neighbor and his condominium association. Although Juan filed a lawsuit on Pablo’s behalf, he never did anything on the matter thereafter.

Subsequently, Pablo fired Juan and filed a complaint with the Florida Bar. The Bar then demanded that Juan submit written timesheets and backup documents for the time he spent representing Pablo. Juan didn’t have any such documents, so he just went about and fabricate false documents that he then submitted to the State Bar.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Juan by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2013) Juan practices at 220 71st Street in Miami Beach, Florida.
