Attorney Jacqueline Downey of Columbus, OH; ethical dwarf

The state of state of Ohio presented Jacqueline Souel Downey with a law license in 1985 after she graduated from Antioch Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Jacqueline guilty of the following misconduct.
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to take necessary steps to advance clients’ legal interests
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
In one matter, Jacqueline neglected legal matters entrusted to her by three (3) clients seeking assistance in immigration matters and an employment discrimination lawsuit.

In a second matter, Jacqueline represented a client seeking to appeal the denial of an employment authorization and petition for political asylum in the U.S.; however Jacqueline the Dufus failed to file a brief within the legal deadline and then failed to notify her client (victim) that the immigration court had dismissed her appeals as a result of Jacqueline’s gross neglect.

In a third matter, Jacqueline told a client he need not appear at a schedule hearing date because she had obtained a continuance in the deportation proceedings. However, the continuance request was filed late and when Jacqueline and her client (victim) failed to appear for the hearing, the immigration court issued a deportation order.
In a third case, Downey told a client that he need not appear on a scheduled hearing date because she had obtained a continuance in deportation proceedings. However the continuance request was filed late and when neither Downey nor the client appeared for the hearing, the court proceeded to issue a deportation order.
As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Jacqueline by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2013) Jacqueline practices at 54 Woodland Avenue in Columbus, Ohio.
