Judge Paul Lamson of Gouverneur, NY; repeat offender

Judge Lamson sits as a Justice of the Fowler Town Count, St. Lawrence County in Gouverneur, New York

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Paul guilty of the following misconduct.

Paul found it acceptable to engage in a series of out-of-court communications about the impending sentence of a defendant, despite the fact that he had previously been cautioned by the Commission to avoid such communications.

In one criminal case, Paul discussed the impending sentence with the defendant’s attorney while visiting the St. Lawrence Public Defender’s Office to see an acquaintance. Paul later sent the attorney two emails about the sentencing without disclosing the communications to the DA. Paul also engaged in an out-of court conversation with the Gouverneur Police Chief about the case.

The comedians sitting on the Judicial Commission previously punished Paul by gifting him with a complimentary caution for engaging in the same kind of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Paul by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. March 2013, Paul continues to sit as a Justice on the Fowler Town Count, St. Lawrence County in Gouverneur, New York
