Former Judge Vincent Sgueglia of Oswego, NY; scofflaw

Judge Van Woeart sits as a Justice of the Princetown Town Court in Schenectady County, New York.

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Michelle guilty of the following misconduct.

Vincent had the chutzpah to issue a gun permit to himself and then accidentally discharged the firearm in his chambers in the Tioga County Courthouse.

After completing a New York Pistol/Revolver License Application to carry a concealed weapon, Vincent approved his own application. As the only County Judge in Tioga County, Kenneth was the sole firearm licensing officer in the county.

The Commission stated, “A judge may not exercise his or her decision-making authority for the judge’s personal benefit. By approving his own application for a pistol permit, [Judge Sgueglia] clearly violated this fundamental precept.”

Discharging a firearm within the Village of Owego violates a local ordinance. Because Judicial Misfits in New York are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone elect, local law enforcement authorities didn’t charge him for violating said law.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Vincent by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

Vincent’s term in office ended on December 31, 2012, and after agreeing to accept the complimentary censure, he also agreed to not serve as a Judicial Hearing Office after leaving the bench.
