Judge Michelle Van Woeart of Princetown, NY: ethical dwarf

Judge Van Woeart sits as a Justice of the Princetown Town Court in Schenectady County, New York.

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Michelle guilty of the following misconduct.

Michelle failed to promptly disqualify herself after appearance tickets were issued to her and her songs regarding a local dog ordinance matter. She also improperly communicated with the court to which the matters were assigned and failed to keep proper records of the violations.

The local Animal Control Officer (ACO) issued tickets to Judge Michelle and her sons for violation of a “loose dog” ordinance. For nearly four (4) months, Michelle failed to disqualify herself. She inappropriately made substantive comments to the judges of the court where the matters were transferred, stating that the tickets were not properly served and that she hoped to be removed from the matter as the dog in question belonged to her son.

Michelle’s term on the Justice Court expires on December 31, 2013. Hopefully, the voters will tell her to take a hike at the next election.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Michelle by gifting her with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. March 2013), Judge Van Woeart remains sitting as a Justice on the Princetown, New York Justice Court.
