Attorney Paula Mattaliano of Arlington, MA; ethical dwarf
The Massachusetts Supreme Court presented Paul E. Mattaliano with a law license in 1993.
The Board of Bar Overseers found Paula guilty of the following misconduct.
Over a period of two years, Paula did not properly reconcile her trust account every 60 days. Her check register lacked client identifies. She did not maintain individual ledgers for each client matter, and there was no ledger for Paula’s personal funds in the account to cover bank charges.
Paula improperly made withdrawals directly from her trust account to pay personal expenses. She also improperly deposited a client retainer into her personal account. Subsequently, when she wrote herself a check for earned fees on the trust account, it bounced.
Despite three (3) demands from Bar Counsel, Paula failed to bring her account records into compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Paula by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (April 2013) Paula continues to practice in the Arlington, Massachusetts area.
