Mayor Mary McAngus of Pomeroy, OH; Today’s “Homophobe” Award Winnerwinner
Up until February 8, 2012, Mary McAngus was the elected Mayor of Pomeroy, Ohio. Pomeroy is an old coal mining area that is 70 miles north of Charleston, West Virginia and about 100 miles southeast of Columbus, Ohio.
Mary decided to cement her status as a bigoted homophobe when she discovered that one of the police officers working for the City of Pomeroy was gay. Mary told the police chief, Mark E. Pfoffitt that she heard “that Kyle was a queer.” She then asked Chief Proffitt what he was going to do about it. To his ever ending credit, the chief told Mary, nothing, because that would be discrimination.
Mary the Bigot went on to state “I don’t like a queer working for the Village, I might be old-fashioned, but I don’t like it.
Within a few days, Mary’s bigoted comments became publish. This resulted in Mary the Bigot’s resignation as Mayor of Pomeroy.
It is amazing that the Police Chief and other members of the police force all came to the conclusion that Mary was a bigoted homophobe. In fact, they all came to the defense of Officer Kyle Calendine who was the subject of Mary’s bigoted comments.
Now that that Mary’s unemployed, I’m sure she could obtain gainful employment working for the American Family Association or some other anti-gay group. And if that doesn’t bear any fruit, she could always apply for a job as a greeter at the Wal-Mart store just across the Ohio River in Mason, West Virginia.
Congrats Mary; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s most disrespected Homophobes; you are far too humble.
