Attorney David Watson, Jr. of Columbus, OH; ethical misfit

The state of Ohio presented David Charles Watson, Jr. with a law license in 1969 after he graduated from Cleveland State University Law School.

The Columbus Bar Association Grievance Committee found David guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to hold client funds in interest-bearing trust account
  2. Commingled client funds with personal funds
  3. Failed to promptly deliver funds to client that client was lawfully entitled too
  4. Misconduct involved multiple offenses
In one matter David represented three clients. David received money from two clients that he deposited into his operating account instead of his client trust account. David also deposited a $20,000 gift from his mother into his client trust account and issued two checks from that account to pay his personal rent.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished David by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of his law license. In truth, the comedians sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to David.

As we speak (ca. February 2013) David practices with the Law Offices of David C. Watson at 503 South Front Street in Columbus, Ohio.
