Today’s “Anti-Semite” Award Winner
Bishop Bernard Fellay is the head of the Society of St. Pius X, a so-called traditionalist group that is at odds with the Vatican on various matters.
During a recent interview on a Canadian radio state, and in an effort to cement his status as a bigoted Anti-Semite, Bishop Fellay declared that Jews are “enemies of the Church.” Bishop Fallay’s remarks took place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel in New Hamburg, Ontario.
While discussing negotiations with the Vatican in 2012 concerning the Society’s future, Fellay the Bigot went on to say, “Who , during that time, was the most opposed that the Church would recognize the Society? The enemies of the Church. The Jews, the Masons, the Modernists.”
Some traditionalist anti-Semite members of the Society like Bishop Fellay blame Jews for the reforms that took place during the Vatican II council sessions.
This isn’t the first time bigoted members of the Society have spoken out against Jews. Traditionalist Bishop Richard Williamson has denied that the Nazis used gas chambers to kill Jews in the Holocaust and that no more than 200,000 to 300,000 Jews died during World War II. I’m sure that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a welcome guest at Bishop Williamson’s abode.
In a lame attempt at levity, a spokesperson for the Society defended Bishop Fallay’s comments by denying any “anti-Semitic” connotation. The spokesperson went on to laughingly state that Fallay’s comment was “aimed at the leaders of Jewish organizations, and not the Jewish people.” Clearly, this spokesperson missed his calling as a standup comedian.
During the 12 years I attended catholic school in Toledo (Rosary Cathedral) I was both an alter boy and member of the choir. I cannot recall one time when the late Bishop George Rehring ever made a derogatory comment about Jews or any other group during numerous times I sang during high masses on Sundays. In fact, no such nonsense was ever spoken by any Cardinal, Archbishop or Priest that presided over masses at the Cathedral.
Maybe its time for Bishop Fellay and those of his ilk to take their anti-Semite side show to Iran where they will be received with open arms.
Congrats Bishop Fellay; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s most unaccomplished Anti-Semites; you are far too humble.
