Attorney Joseph Dochney of Toms River, NJ; lying loser

The state of New Jersey presented Joseph J. Dochney with a law license in 1981.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Joseph guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Made false statements (lied) to client
  2. Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  3. Failed to provide client with written fee agreement setting forth basis of his rate
  4. Disclosed attorney/client confidences
In one matter, Joseph failed to file a wrongful termination lawsuit on his client’s behalf. Joseph then lied to the client that the lawsuit was proceeding despite the fact that he had not conducted an investigation of the matter. Worst of all, Joseph engaged in gross negligence when he allowed the statute of limitations to expire on his client’s wrongful terminal claims.

In another matter, Joseph used information he obtained during his law firm’s prior representation of a client in a municipal court matter to the client’s disadvantage in an unrelated custody matter. Joseph’s misconduct prevented the former client from having unfettered contact with her nephew. The nephew just happened to be Joseph’s stepson. What a loser!

As a consequent of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics board punished Joseph by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2012), Joseph practices at 600 Main Street in Toms River, New Jersey.
