NRA’s Wayne LaPierre: Today’s “Bullshit” Award Winner Congratulations to….
NRA’s Wayne LaPierre
Today’s “Bullshit” Award Winner
After exercising his 5th Amendment right to remain silent in regards to the mass killing of 20 children and 6 adults in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, Wayne decided it was time to give the public another example of his ability to spew forth his special brand of bullshit.
Wayne is now calling on Congress to “immediately” appropriate whatever funds are necessary to place armed police officers in every school in the country. Wayne went on to say, “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”
With a congress controlled by Republicans who are hell-bent on reducing the deficit, I doubt that Speaker of the House John Boehner and/or Rep. Eric Cantor are about to do as Wayne demands. This is especially true since every police office would be a “public employee.” In fact, we’d need to hire 132,183 new public employees as set forth below. (Source: US Dept. of Education, Digest of Education Statistics, 2011)
When it becomes apparent to Wayne that his proposal to hire at least 132,000 more public employees will be treated with laughter and disdain by Congress, maybe he’ll propose that Congress pass a law mandating that every teacher and student over the age of 10 be required to carry a concealed weapon. For the younger students Wayne could propose legislation allowing them to carry a hand grenade.
As expected, Wayne doesn’t make any mention of supporting a ban on assault weapons or magazines that hold upwards of 100 bullets. It would be difficult to imagine that any rational member of the NRA would actually claim that the 2nd Amendment guarantees that he/she has a constitutional right to pack an assault weapon equipped with a magazine holding 100 armor piercing bullets.
Congrats Wayne; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s most unaccomplished Standup Comedians; you are far too humble.
