Attorney Jeff Van Treese of Boca Raton; convicted cokehead

The State of Michigan provided Jeff W. Van Treese with a law license in 1980.

The Attorney Disciplinary Board found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

Jeff was convicted when he pleaded guilty to the use of cocaine and to possession of cocaine. Jeff obtained cocaine from two separate clients in exchange for legal services. Jeff advised those clients to give false testimony to a grand jury (subornation of perjury).

One of his clients, Mary Thuss hired Jeff to defend her regarding criminal charges for selling cocaine. Mary testified that after she hired Jeff, a second relationship developed wherein she became a regular supplier of cocaine to Jeff. Mary further testified that she made cocaine deliveries to Jeff’s office, at her house and, on at lease once occasion, at Jeff’s house.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Attorney Disciplinary Board punished Jeff by revoking his law license. However, several years later, the comedians sitting on the Board reinstated Jeff the Doper’s law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Jeff now practices in the Boca Raton, Florida area; however, his license is still active in Michigan.
