Attorney Dean Hines of Centerville, OH; bullying loser

The state of Ohio presented Dean Edward Hines with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from the University of Cincinnati Law School.

The Cincinnati Bar Association Grievance Committee found Dean guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Refused to acknowledge wrongful nature of conduct
  2. Engaged in an inappropriate relationship with client
  3. Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his fitness to practice law
Dean represented a client in an ongoing domestic-relations (divorce) dispute. After several meetings, dean invited his client to dinner and expressed his interest in date her.

Dean indicated to the client that a personal relationship would not be a conflict of interest and they then became sexually intimate. Dean continued to represent the client in the domestic-relations dispute during their relationship and subsequently hired her as a bookkeeper for his law firm.

Over the next several months, Dean continued to represent the client in the domestic dispute while continuing their romantic relationship. Dean hired the client to work as a bookkeeper for his law firm, leased a car for her use, and contributed to her monthly mortgage and utility payments. They traveled together to Austria, Arizona and South Carolina, and when the client underwent surgery requiring a lengthy recovery period, he moved the client and her children into his home.

After the relationship fell apart, Dean called 911 to report a domestic dispute with the client. He filed charges of aggravated menacing and domestic violence; however the charges were later dropped.

The day after the alleged altercation, Dean fired the client. A few days later, he mailed a letter to her notifying her of an adverse ruling in the ruling in the domestic-relations case, and notifying her that he was ending their attorney-client relationship. When Dean mailed the letter, his client had 11 days to protect her legal rights by objecting to the adverse court ruling. James failed to seek ask the trial judge for an extension of the 11 day deadline, refer the client to another attorney, or assist her in protecting her rights.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Dean by gifting him with a complimentary stayed180-day suspension of his law license. In truth, the comedians sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Dean.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Dean practices with Dean Edward Hines Co., LPA at 7950 Clyo Road in Centerville, Ohio.
