Attorney Jeffrey Schelling of Naples; ethically deprived

The state of Florida presented Jeffrey Stephen Schelling with a law license in 1991 after he graduated from the University of New Hampshire Law School.

The State Bar of Florida found Jeffrey guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to comply with trust accounting rules
  2. Provided financial assistance to clients
  3. Engaged in the unauthorized practice of law while license suspended
In one matter, Jeffrey represented Mary Chinelli on a contingent fee agreement relating to a commercial lease dispute.

While the litigation was ongoing, Jeffrey advanced funds totaling over $6,000 to Mary to assist her in paying for her living expenses. On at least one occasions, Jeffrey improperly issued Mary a check from his trust account, despite the fact that he was not holding funds for Mary in his client trust account at the time.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Jeffrey by gifting him with a complimentary 45-day suspension of his law license. .

As we speak (ca. November 2012) Jeffrey practices at 2240 Trade Center Way in Naples, Florida.
