Attorney Charles Aliano of Susquehanna, PA; ethical dwarf

The state of Pennsylvania presented Charles J. Aliano with a law license in 1978.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Charles guilty of the following misconduct.

Represented a client when the client’s interests were adverse to that of another client
Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

While employed as a Susquehanna County District Attorney, Charles prosecuted a DUI case while at the same time he represented the defendant’s wife in a civil matter. While prosecuting the criminal matter, Charles improperly dismissed the criminal charges against his client’s husband. Apparently, Charles’ intellect was such that he was unable to appreciate what the term “conflict of interest” meant.

In another matter, Charles represented Edward Gallagher in a divorce and custody case. During his representation, Charles advised his client to tape-record conversations with his wife. The client did so without the knowledge or consent of his wife, which Charles knew or should have known, was an illegal act in Pennsylvania.

Charles had the chutzpah to defend his conduct by claiming it was an error on his legal interpretation of the law. Put simply, Charles the Moron pleaded “ignorance of the law.”

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Charles by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. November 2012) Charles is employed by the Barnes-Kasson Hospital at 37 Jackson Avenue in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.
