Attorney Rita Mahdessian of Glendale, CA; convict, repeat offender 
The state of California provided Rita Mahdessian with a law license in 1989 after she graduated from the University of Reading Berkshire in the United Kingdom in 1981. From 1981 through 1988, Rita practices as a barrister in England, after she studied at Gray’s Inn Council of Legal Education.
The California Bar Court found Tito guilty of the following misconduct
Rita’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
Rita employed Rosa Urbina as a paralegal who set up and operated a business called Last Resource Attorney Services in Palmdale, California. Rita then obtained a business license to provide legal services from an office next door to Last Resource. Rita’s main office was in Glendale.
A client who wanted to sue Los Angeles County met with Urbina and gave her a $2,000 check payable to Rite. Urbina wrote her name above Rita’s as payee and the check was deposited in Urbina’s account. When the client threatened to report Rita to the State Bar, he went to her office and signed a lawsuit and verification to the lawsuit. The lawsuit falsely listed him as pro per (his own attorney). Shortly thereafter, Urbina told the client to have Rita named as counsel, which he did. At a hearing on the matter, Rita told the judge she need extra time because she had just been hired, which was in fact a falsehood.
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Rita by gifting her with a complimentary 90-day suspension of her law license.
Rita’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
Rita pleaded guilty in federal court to one court of possessing a fraudulent identification document. She received three years probation and was fined $10,000.
Special agents from the INS began an investigation into certain individuals suspected of traveling to El Paso, Texas, to filed fraudulent citizenship amnesty applications. Before the investigation began in earnest, Rita appeared at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in El Paso and admitted she had worked with several individuals who charged aliens to file phony amnesty applications. Rita’s role was to interview the applicants and inform them of the filing requirements.
Rita’s Hyperbolic (BS) Defenses
In mitigation of her criminal behavior, Rita had the audacity to blame it on her suffering from extreme emotional difficulties. She went on to laughingly claim she had been diagnosed with a dependent personality disorder and depression. As usual, the comedians sitting on the Bar Court lapped up Rita’s BS and granted her mitigation. What a joke!
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Rita by gifting her with a complimentary 2-year suspension of her law license.
As we speak (ca. December 2012) Rita practices with the Yeghiayan Law Firm at 535 North Brand Avenue in Glendale, California.
As one would suspect, the Yeghiayan Law Firm makes absolutely no mention of Rita’s misconduct on its self-serving website at www.yeghiayanlaw.com. Apparently, the firm decided to conceal these facts so as to not limit its future victim pool.
