The state of Georgia presented Brett Jones Thompson with a law license in 2001.
 
The State Bar of Georgia found Brett guilty of the following misconduct.
 
Brett’s misconduct arose of an employment dispute with a former employee that led to her pleading guilty to two criminal misdemeanors, which were tampering with evidence and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Brett was subsequently sentenced to a term of probation, which later suspended.
 
Brett was found guilty of contempt for her conduct relating to her divorce. She later agreed to pay court-ordered restitution and complied with the trial court’s contempt order.
 
Brett’s Hyperbolic (BS) Defense
 
Brett had the chutzpah to claim that during the period of her misconduct that was experiencing personal and emotional problems of a nonrecurring nature that included marital difficulties that ended in divorce.
 
As one would suspect, the comedians sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court bought into Brett’s BS defense and granted her mitigation for her misconduct.
 
As a consequence of Brett’s misconduct, the enabler for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court punished Brett by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Brett cont inues to practice in the Ellijay, Georgia area.
