Attorney Steven Swan of Keokuk, IA; ethical dwarf

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Alan guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to communicate with client
  2. Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  3. Failed to withdraw representation when required
  4. Failed to provide client with full accounting of client funds
  5. Failed to notify clients of inability to represent them in any fashion due to illness
  6. Closed law office without notify clients
In one matter, Steven was hired to represent a client in a divorce matter. At the time Steven filed the complaint, his client’s husband was in the military, stationed in Texas. Over the next six (6) months Steven took no action to assure that the client’s husband was actually served with a copy of the complaint.

Subsequently, the client discharged Steven and hired another attorney. At that time she demanded an accounting of the fees she paid Steven and for a refund for unearned fees. However, Steven never responded to her requests.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board punished Steven by gifting him with complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Steven practices at 401 Main Street in Keokuk, Iowa.
