Attorney Alan Bohanan of Iowa City; ethically inept

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Alan guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to engage in due diligence
  2. Failed to expedite litigation
  3. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
In one matter, Alan represented a client in a dissolution (divorce) matter. When Alan filed an appeal on behalf of his client he failed to attach the required appendix to his appellate brief.

The Appeals Court Clerk then issued a default notice to Alan that gave him an opportunity to cure his defect and filed the required appendix. Alan ignored the default notice and failed to file the appendix. As a result of Alan’s gross negligence, his client’s appeal was dismissed.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board punished Alan by gifting him with complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Alan practices at 105 Iowa Avenue in Iowa City, Iowa.
