Attorney Emil Vodonick of Nevada City, CA; serial thief

The state of California provided Emil John Vodonick with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the Pepperdine University Law School.

The California Bar Court found Emil guilty of the following misconduct.

Emil failed to promptly refund unearned fees that he knew he owed to his clients (victims). Emil was subsequently ordered to refund more than $53,000 to those clients within a year. Emil sought and was granted an extension of time by the State Bar to make those refunds.

By the time Emil made the request for an extension, he had made no payments. Subsequently, he tried to negotiate a payment schedule with his clients’ attorneys, and was able to work out a repayment plan of nearly $75,000.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Emil’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary suspension and a public reproval for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Emil by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. October 2012) Emil continues to practice in the Nevada City, California area.
