Attorney William Garrahan of Holliston, MA; ethically insolvent
The state of Massachusetts presented William C. Garrahan with a law license in 1985.
The Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers found William guilty of the following misconduct.
William was hired to represent a client regarding the development and sale of 8 parcels of land owned by a realty trust. The client was an investor who had loaned money to the trust and was acting as an agent for the trust with respect to the development and the sale of the lots.
William had two of the trustees for the realty trust come to his office and sign incomplete deeds that didn’t include the names of the buyers or the purchase prices. When the lots were sold, William falsely notarized the signatures of the trustees to the incomplete deeds.
In several instances, when he couldn’t locate the previously prepared deeds, William went ahead and prepared new ones and then forged the signatures of the trustees to the deeds along with falsely notarizing their signatures. William then submitted the sham deeds to the Registrar of Deeds.
Because Attorney Misfits in Massachusetts are held to a lower standard of conduct then everyone else, William was never criminally charged for forgery, obstruction of justice or for falsifying a notary.
An this wasn’t Williams 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary admonishment for engaging in a variety of misconduct.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Bar Overseers punished William by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. October 2012) William practices with the Law Offices of William C. Garrahan at 6 October Hill Road in Holliston, Massachusetts.
