Attorney Michael Telep, Jr. of Sells, AZ; liar, loser

The state of Arizona presented Michael Telep, Jr. with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of Texas law school.

The Arizona State Bar found Michael guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in multiple offenses
  2. Failed to expedite litigation (slacker)
  3. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation
  4. Employed tactics in representing client meant to embarrass or burden another party
  5. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  6. Made untruthful statements to other (liar)
  7. Knowingly disobeyed a court rule/order
  8. Put forth claims that he knew were not meritorious (frivolous)
  9. Failed to act with candor when dealing with a trial court
In one matter, Michael represented a client charged with several counts of indecent conduct with a minor. Michael knowingly and intentionally violated victims’ rights laws and criminal rules of procedure when he subpoenaed the minor’s school records without notice to the minor victim or state and without first filing a mandatory request for court authority to so act.

Mike also unlawfully subpoenaed the minor’s medical records and directed the doctor to deliver the record to the judge or to his office before a scheduled hearing date. The judge determined the subpoena was misleading (false) because it appeared as though the court was requesting the medical records when in fact it was Mike.

At the hearing the judge ordered Mike that if he received the medical records; they should be delivered to the court and placed under seal pending another hearing. At that hearing, when the judge asked Mike about the location of the medical records, Mike stated he had no knowledge of their location. Two days later Mike delivered the records to the court. An inquiry by the judge proved that the medical records were delivered to Mike 20 days before the hearing wherein he lied to the court.

Because of his deceitful conduct, the trial judge ordered Mike removed from the case, and ordered a show cause hearing to determine if Mike should be held in criminal contempt of court.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Michael by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. September 2010) Michael practices in Sells, Arizona, which is about 60 miles east of Tucson.
