Attorney William Sheppard of Jacksonville, FL; ethical elf

The state of Florida presented William J. Sheppard with a law license in 1968 after he graduated from the University of Florida Law School.

In early 2011 police officers reported seeing William, 69 at the time, participating in illegal activity while his car was parked in a secluded area on Franklin Street on Valentine’s Day. An officer stated he saw William sitting in the driver’s seat with a woman straddling him.

The office believed the pair was engaged in sexual activity, so he ordered William to exit the vehicle. William refused to get out of the car and the officer said he had to physically remove him and place him in handcuffs. The woman got of the car and the officer said she gave him permission to search the car. The officer noted that he found two marijuana cigarettes in the center console as well as a bottle of Viagra in the glove box.

Apparently, William was never criminally charged for his conduct, which would include resisting arrest.
Because Attorney Misfits in Florida are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, the Florida Bar never took any action to discipline William for his misconduct.

As we speak (ca. Sept 2012) William practices with Sheppard White & Thomas at 215 North Washington Street in Jacksonville, Florida.
