Attorney James Wise of Canfield, OH; ethical misfit

The state of Ohio presented John Russell Wise with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Cleveland State University Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found James guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Improperly removed client funds from trust account
  2. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation
  3. Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his fitness to practice law
  4. Failed to deposit client funds in client trust account
When Elaine Cestone moved from Ohio to Mississippi, she and John agreed that he would be a joint signatory on her bank account. Elaine gave John control over her investment accounts with the understanding that he would pay her expenses from the bank and investment accounts.

Over a two-year period of time, John removed over $22,000 from Elaine’s accounts, which he used, without her knowledge or authorization to pay his personal bills.

When Elaine fired John, he withdrew $21,000 from his personal account and paid it to Elaine. Of course this took place almost three years after he unlawfully helped himself to her money.

As a consequent of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Scott by gifting him with a complimentary suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. September 2012) James practices with Betras, Kopp & Harshman LLC at 6630 Seville Drive in Canfield, Ohio which is Akron
