Attorney Ronald GS Au of Honolulu; ethically impoverished

Disciplinary Counsel found Ronald guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Converted client funds to personal use
  2. Improperly deposited clients’ settlement funds into his office account
  3. Deposited unearned fees into his office account
  4. Improperly reimbursed his trust account
  5. Failed to withdraw funds from his client rust account
  6. Falsely certified his annual registration statements
  7. Paid fees to non-lawyer runner in exchange for non-lawyer’s referral of clients
  8. Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  9. Knowingly made a materially false statement to a trial court
  10. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation
  11. Commingled client funds with his personal funds
  12. Failed to provide client with written fee agreement
As to paying illegal fees to a non-attorney, Mr. Yoshimoto testified that he had an agreement with Ronald to find and refer clients to Ronald for 5% of the gross amount of any settlement.

Yoshimoto referred Cindy Labrador who had two personal injury matters. Eventually both matters settled for $46,000 and Ronald paid Yoshimoto $2,300 (5%). However, Ronald falsely stated on the 3 checks ($950, $850 and $500) that they were for Yoshimoto’s “investigative services.”

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hawaii Supreme Court punished Ronald by gifting him with a 5-year suspension of his law license when in fact he should have been permanently disbarred.

As we speak (ca. September 2012) Myles practices with Au Ronald G S & Associates at 1001 Bishop Street in Honolulu, Hawaii.
