The state of Illinois presented Alan J. Bernstein with a law license in 1981.
 
The Disciplinary Commission found Alan guilty of misconduct on several occasions.
 
Alan’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  1. Conversion of client funds to personal use
  2. Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of legal matter
  3. Failed to promptly comply with client requests for information
  4. Failed to act with reasonable diligence (slacker)
  5. Commingled client funds with personal funds
  6. Failed to promptly deliver funds to client or third person entitled to said funds
  7. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  8. Engaged in conduct involving dishonest, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
  9. Engage din conduct tending to bring the legal profession into disrepute (And your point is?)
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Alan by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license
 
Alan’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  4. Failed to explain matter to extent necessary to afford client ability to make informed decisions
  5. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  6. Engaged in conduct involving dishonest, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
  7. Failed to expedite litigation consistent with client’s interest
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Larry by gifting him with a complimentary 180-month suspension of his law license.
 
As we speak (ca. August 2012) Alan practices with the Law Offices of Alan J. Bernstein at 10 South LaSalle Street in Chicago, Illinois.
