Attorney Dan Riegleman of Sussex, WI; ethical leprechaun  The state of Wisconsin presented Dan A Riegleman with a law license in 1975 after she graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Dan guilty of the following misconduct.
Dan represented a client injured in an auto accident arising out of his employment. Dan filed a worker’s compensation claim against the client’s employer and the employer’s insurer, Continental Western Insurance Corp. Subsequently, Continental paid $26,660 in benefits and legal expenses related to the client’s compensation claim.
Dan also filed a lawsuit against the driver of the other vehicle who was insured by Allstate. Shortly thereafter, Continental’s attorney wrote to Dan to inform him that Continental had a lien for $26,660 on any monies his client received from Allstate. Allstate eventually settled the claim for $12,000.
When Dan received the $12,000 from Allstate, he failed to notify Continental. Danny unlawfully endorsed the name of Continental on the settlement check, and deposited the funds into his trust account without the prior consent or knowledge of Continental or its attorney.
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme
Court punished Dan by gifting her with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license. As we speak (ca. September 2012) Dan practices with Riegleman Law Offices SC at 63 West 23965 Main Street in Sussex, Wisconsin.
