Attorney Sanford Edelman of Sierra Vista, AZ; repeat offender

The state of Arizona provided Sanford J. Edelman with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from Cleveland Marshall University Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Sanford guilty of misconduct on at least two occasions as set forth below.

Sanford’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Failed to conduct monthly reconciliations of client trust accounts
  2. Removed client funds from client trust account for fees before fees were earned
  3. Mismanaged client trust accounts leading to numerous discrepancies in payouts to clients
  4. Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Sanford by gifting him with another complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

Sanford’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  2. Obtained evidence by violating the due process rights of another person
  3. Communicated with a person represented by counsel
Sanford was appointed to represent a juvenile in a drug-possession case. The juvenile’s mother also was charged in connection with the same matters and was represented by separate counsel. Sanford had the mother sign an affidavit without discussing the matter with her attorney, and then refused to withdraw the affidavit when the mother’s attorney requested that he do so. Sanford refused to do so even though the affidavit was potentially harmful to the mother’s pending criminal case.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Sanford by gifting him with another complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. August 2012) Sanford practices as a Cochise County Public Defender at 100 Colonia de Salud in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
