Attorney Gordon Bones of Sacramento; ethical elf

The state of California provided Gordon Glen Bones with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from the University of California at Berkeley Law School.

The California Bar Court found Gordon guilty of misconduct on several occasions.
  • Breached his fiduciary duty to an estate
  • Represented clients with obvious conflicts of interest
Bones was hired by the niece of an estate’s beneficiary to protect the interest of the estate for the beneficiary. The niece had power of attorney for the care of her uncle’s health and assets.

When the niece was asked for an estimate of the value of care she provided to her uncle and his deceased sister, Bones said she was entitled to compensation of at least $41,000. Bones never received the uncle’s permission to allow his niece to collect any assets from the estate. Nonetheless, the niece withdrew $41,000 for the estate. During this time, Bones represented the niece and the uncle, which was clearly a blatant conflict of interest.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Gordon by gifting him with a stayed 12-month suspension of his law license. In reality, the comics sitting on the Bar Court didn’t actually provide any real punishment to Gordon.

As we speak (ca. August 2012) Gordon practices at 4811 Chippendale Drive in Sacramento, California.
